I saw a bumper sticker the other day that said...
Life is the School. Love is the Lesson.
Don’t you just love that? Apparently it’s a reference to free schooling or un-schooling your kids, but I think the message is perfect for all of us.
In this world where we are bombarded with images and messages of scarcity and fear:
You aren’t ____ enough (rich, smart, aware, athletic, adventurous, motivated, etc), it’s hard not to feel down on ourselves.
Am I doing enough to raise good kids?
Am I accomplishing enough?
Am I helping enough?
Seems everyone wants to sell us something that will fix us.
Here’s what I want you to remember…
You ARE enough already. Just as you are.
Even if you never do anything more with your life than what you’ve done.
You are enough because you are here and you are you.
You are capable of more.
You deserve more.
You deserve to feel happy. To thrive.
To be the kind of parent, partner and person you want to be.
Personal growth from a place of “I’m not enough” won’t help you be better. The bar will keep moving (by you or society) and you’ll end up hopeless that you can change.
Personal growth must come from a place of love. Self-love.
“I love myself enough to….”
React calmly to my kids
Allow love in
Eat foods that nourish my body
Try something new
If Life is the School...
...Don’t miss that Love is the Lesson.
